Dental
Training Center
There has been a shortage of well educated dental
assistants for many years. Dr. Donald Robbins is
currently Director of a school he founded for teaching
dental assistants. The Dental Training Center is
licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department
of Education and has been training quality assistants
for over four years.
Our school has garnered recognition from the local
dental community for training quality dental assistants.
Several dental offices call us regularly looking for
recent graduates to hire. Starting salaries for our
graduates are over 30% more than untrained assistants
and salary levels after one year are 75% more than
entrance level salaries.
Patricia Montgomery,
CDA,
is our
school administrator and oversees all activities
directly affecting students.
Ms. Montgomery is a
Certified Dental Assistant and taught dental
assisting in the Pottstown School District for 14
years. She
has been a clinical dental assistant since 1976 and
brings years of experience in dental office
management and dental assisting to our staff. In
the Dental Training Center assisting program, Ms.
Montgomery gives lectures, teaches assisting skills
and manages students as they practice what they have
learned in class.
The dental assisting program is
offered
2 or 3
times per year in an intense schedule of
8 hour days for
10 Saturdays. The program
incorporates lectures and reviews of all aspects of dental
assisting. The lectures are given by members of the school
staff who are dental assistants and educators as well as
some lectures by a licensed hygienist and dentist. A diploma
is awarded to students who have completed all their
requirements.

Employment Preparation
Almost half of class time is devoted to practical
utilization of what the students learn in lecture. They
operate and practice with actual dental office instruments
and equipment. The usual ratio is four students per
instructor so individual attention is possible. As part of
their graduation requirements, students are given
cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training and must pass
their test and be certified by graduation.
There is no extra fee for this important training.

Special attention is given to preparing for the Pennsylvania
State Radiology Certification Examination. To date all
students who took the state examination passed and were
awarded a certificate to allow them to take radiographs in
the dental office.

Our course is one of the only courses taught by a licensed
dentist, licensed hygienist, and licensed expanded function
dental assistant. Depending upon the session, our faculty
may be different.
